Designs on Coastal Life

Hello & welcome to my little corner of the world. I’m Sue, a multidisciplinary artist working across diverse art forms using a wide range of media. I’m best known for making unique contemporary jewellery in silver & gold as well as upcycling abandoned jewellery & found objects into new designs.

When I’m not employing traditional Silversmithing techniques to create wearable art, I’m happily painting vibrant abstract canvasses for exhibition & quirky watercolour birds for my greeting card & gift range. All work is made in my North London studio, at the jewellery bench & occasionally on the beach in North Cornwall!

Everything I make is inspired by my coastal roots growing up where the Thames estuary meets the blue green waters of the North Sea. Treasured memories of this varied & quirky coastline are encapsulated in the spirit & soul of my jewellery & joyful art. The contrast of simple beautiful nature with man-made seaside life is translated as rich texture & bold contrast. The colours, textures & ‘essence’ of coastal life remain constant themes in my work.

The Blink Story

I started Blink originally as a pop up art & design platform nearly a decade ago, gathering makers from many disciplines to join me in curated exhibitions, art installations & pop up galleries. Blink has now moved online presenting an ever-changing gallery of original art & design as well as ‘Creative Development’ coaching & ‘Creative Connections’ workshops each season.
